Ever heard of Free State Beach Party (FSBP)? The biggest event held annually in one of the largest city in the Free State province. The event is held on the 16th December at Kroon Park Resort, to celebrate reconciliation day by getting everyone in one place.
The event started in 2009 under the banner of Mozolo Beach Party, the name was then changed to FSBP in 2014. “We changed the name to FSBP after realising the love and appreciation of the event, from different towns surrounding Kroonstad”- Mr Teboho Masike (Overall Organisation and Financial Management at Mozolo 056 Productions).
You may wonder why a big event would be held I Kroonstad not in Mangaung. Here’s why, the concept originated there, it has become a sort of pilgrimage for youth, one of the event where everyone awaits for in anticipation, the city is in the centre and easily accessible from all other towns, Mr Masike concluded.
Every year has its own theme as last year’s was “Hawaiian”. A theme plays an important role in an event, it is there to create buzz, to set a tone, to draw a crowd and make the event more memorable. This year they are expecting 12 000 or more people and quality production.
“It brings Free State to a stand. It has to be the biggest party in the Free State. The FSBP has gone over the borders of the Free State, Gauteng and North West. People talk about and they love it and willing to go extra miles about it. The fact that the event focuses mainly on entertainment such as pool games, play station, sand games etc. proves that it the event is the best ever to be staged in South Africa. I’ve seen people like Euphonik, DJ Capital and Black Motion tweet about the event, it is insane. The crowd gives the artists the energy” – Tshemedi Molopo (FSBP Ambassador).
They further outlined that they condemn under-age drinking, they are very strict and clear on age restriction, and this is an event governed by SAPS rules and approval. They would never do anything to risk that, they have in the past removed young kids suspected of being under-age from the venue. According to them the people that are attending are 18 and above and it becomes a problem to control their movement from the venue.
