Nasty C (real name David Junior Ngcobo) is a rapper, producer and song writer from Durban (South Africa). He’s fast gaining waves of interest in his local music industry with his fresh sound which is setting him apart from his peers.
The stage name ‘Nasty C’ was given to him by the first producer he ever worked with, and from the beginning of his rap career he’s been influenced by hip hop greats such as American rappers T.I, Lil Wayne, Drake, Hopsin, Kendrick Lamar as well local rappers such as AKA, Khuli Chana and Reason, who he says still inspire him because of their work ethic.
In 2013, he got to meet and open for one of those role models, rapper AKA, at his ‘Alter-Ego’ nationwide album launch. Later that year he got to join AKA on stage during performance a performance at a Durban festival; an experience he highlights as one of the best in his entire career and life.
Nasty C met AKA when he was 16 and was supposed to open for him at a show in Pietermaritzburg. Before that there was a dinner gathering where AKA just got up to make an announcement. ‘Yo, after my second album I’m gonna open my own G.O.O.D Music and you know who my Pusha T’s gonna be, right?’ Then he pointed at the 16 year old who was sitting across the table. “But as time passed I realised he was just saying that,” said Nasty.
“So you can imagine at 16, I’m a major fan so I was never gonna forget that.” The rapper went on and explained how Cassper has done all the things that AKA promised but never delivered. We can’t wait to see where this extra ordinary young man will be by the end of 2016!
