It has just emerged that Hulisani Ravele was initially approached to host the South African of the Year (SATY) awards over the weekend, but was replaced by Bonang.
This is according to Sunday World, who are reporting that the former YoTV presenter also known as ‘CC’ couldn’t reach a financial agreement with management. It’s believed that she demanded more money than what the TV station was offering.
Come to think of it, Hulisani was the host of the “I Am South African” show in the lead up to the awards and was initially dubbed to be ‘the face’ of it.
The newspaper was initially tipped off by a source, but Hulisani confirmed that she could not host the show due to money issues.
“It was strictly a business deal. We did not come to a money agreement,” she told the newspaper.
Eyebrows were also raised when Hulisani didn’t attend the glitzy gala dinner, which was attended by various VIP guests including the president and the Guptas.
She explained that she was invited but had netball priorities. “As for missing the Friday dinner, I had to attend netball. I missed the whole season and I wanted to be part of the session,” explained the TV presenter.
