After 12 years of continuing the country’s conversations every afternoon on SABC3, 3Talk will be coming to an end on the 20th of April, 2015.
With the introduction of 2 talkshows on etv, Masechaba Lekalake’s Ek Se: Let’s Talk and Khanyi Mbau’s Katch It With Khanyi, one had expected that there would be some semblance of substance in television talk in South Africa but alas, we yet to crack that ceiling.
An incredible woman who has built a career that is unparalleled in this business. Hers is a story that should inspire generations. A woman who hails from one of the poorest provinces in this country went from being a receptionist in a construction company to being possibly the most recognised and revered across the board name in TV broadcasting. Even with hosting this show — she was a replacement few weeks after the show launched when the initial host did not workout. That is a remarkable feet.
After such a long journey with the show, Noeleen Maholwana Sangqu decided a year ago that she would be hanging up her 3Talk shoes at the end of the current season.
“When we started the show, I could never have imagined that we would have such an enduring relationship with our viewers. I have had the most fabulous 12 years on 3Talk. It’s been an amazing adventure which has brought so much fun and meaning into my life, but after a lot of thought, I think it’s time for me to bid farewell,” remarked Noeleen.
“We are sincerely grateful to Noeleen for her incessant support, commitment and professionalism over the last 12 years. Noeleen has moved, inspired and empowered our viewers through the many episodes of 3Talk. It is the end of an era” said Aisha Mohamed, SABC3 Head of Bouquet.
“SABC3 viewers can expect the channel to keep in line with its lifestyle offering post the last season of 3Talk. The channel will continue to bring viewers entertaining variety and lifestyle content which will be communicated closer to launch date,” continued Aisha.
